JD.com’s new 150,000 sqm logistics hub in Abu Dhabi’s Kezad will create 1,000 jobs, boosting the UAE’s supply chain and economic diversification efforts.
Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com, through its infrastructure and asset-management arm Jingdong Property, is set to develop a substantial logistics facility in Abu Dhabi’s Kezad economic zone. The forthcoming 150,000-square-metre complex is poised to significantly enhance the region’s logistics infrastructure while generating approximately 1,000 direct employment opportunities.
Jingdong Property has formalized an agreement with Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi Group to establish this state-of-the-art warehousing and distribution centre at Kezad Al Ma’mourah. Although the financial scope of the project remains undisclosed, its completion is targeted for 2028. The facility will incorporate advanced automated warehousing systems and digital operational technologies designed to support both domestic and global enterprises.
This initiative is set to create around 1,000 positions spanning logistics, distribution, and administrative roles. Additionally, it is expected to boost employment indirectly in manufacturing, retail, transport, and various support services, contributing broadly to the local economy.
According to Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed, CEO of Kezad Group, “Our agreement with Jingdong Property will enhance Kezad's logistics capabilities, further cementing its position as a gateway for regional and global trade, while advancing economic diversification, industrial expansion and sustainable development.”
Feng Guo, CEO of JD.com Middle East, emphasized that the new hub represents a crucial milestone in Jingdong Property’s aggressive expansion within the UAE, underpinning its goal to support fast-moving supply chains.
Jingdong Property specializes in managing logistics parks, business parks, and data centres globally. With over 300 infrastructure assets under management covering more than 28 million square metres and assets exceeding $16 billion, this UAE investment aligns with Abu Dhabi’s broader economic diversification objectives. The emirate aims to bolster manufacturing, logistics, and supply-chain sectors within its industrial zones.
Kezad Group, responsible for 12 strategic economic zones in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, as well as operations in Egypt’s East Port Said, supports over 2,300 investors across 17 industrial sectors. The new facility will complement the Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy and the UAE’s ambitious Operation 300bn programme, encouraging growth in key industrial areas.
JD.com’s expansion reflects the wider presence and increasing influence of Chinese firms in the UAE market. For instance, Beijing-based China Securities recently received a licence to operate at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), enhancing financial ties across the Middle East. Additionally, major Chinese banks and tech companies—including BYD, Baidu, Tencent Cloud, Huawei Cloud, and others—maintain significant UAE operations.
The development of JD.com’s logistics hub at Kezad signals a growing demand for industrial and commercial spaces designed to support e-commerce and logistics growth in Abu Dhabi. Agents should closely monitor this sector’s expansion for new leasing and sales opportunities in warehousing and distribution facilities. The push towards economic diversification and sustainable industrial growth further cements the importance of such projects in the emirate’s real estate landscape.
